Our story

Good Vision Seva Trust (GVST) is a secular, non-political, non-profit organization based in Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu, founded in 2000 by Mr. Mano Thangaraj. The trust focuses on sustainable development of economically disadvantaged communities, tackling issues like unemployment, gender inequality, and climate change. GVST empowers women through credit-linked programs and employment-oriented training, supports climate change adaptation, and strengthens community participation in health, natural resource management, and livelihoods. It disseminates knowledge on climate change mitigation, especially among vulnerable communities like fisherfolk. The trust gained recognition during the tsunami disaster by providing relief and rehabilitation with organizations like CARE India and ECDF. GVST remains committed to innovative developmental initiatives, striving for a resilient and equitable society.

Our Mission

Promoting and facilitating Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to enable self-sustenance among marginalized communities is a key focus. Efforts are directed at mobilizing unemployed individuals, unorganized laborers, and disaster-affected populations, offering rehabilitation and support to help them rebuild their lives. Skill training and Entrepreneur Development Programs (EDPs) are provided to enhance employability and foster economic independence. Additionally, the organization is committed to rejuvenating and conserving natural resources, protecting the environment, and addressing health issues through awareness campaigns and healthcare initiatives. These efforts collectively aim to create a more sustainable and equitable society.

English for Economics Opportunities

GVST’s English for Economic Opportunities equips 12,000+ Government School students (Classes 3–8) in Tamil Nadu with English and communication skills. Using the Vocabulary Drill method, 84 trained volunteers teach in 96 schools. The syllabus, 70% from school curriculum and 30% on life skills, is designed by linguistic experts. A robust M&E system tracks progress in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This initiative enhances confidence, bridges language gaps, and creates brighter opportunities for students.

Livelihood

GVST empowers rural communities, especially women, through skill development and livelihood programs. It offers tailoring, computer literacy, and financial training, along with capacity-building for Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The organization supports income-generating activities like fish vending, beekeeping, and seaweed cultivation while providing microfinance to minority entrepreneurs. Collaborations with partners like CARE-India and OXFAM enhance these efforts.
