
On October 14, 2024, the Tamil Nadu State Commission for Women, in collaboration with Good Vision Seva Trust, organized a workshop on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act at the Good Vision Seva Trust office in Karungal. The session, led by Mrs. Everlyn Subha, District Coordinator of the Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department, aimed to equip teachers from Kanyakumari Speaks English with the knowledge and skills to prevent and address child sexual abuse.
Mrs. Subha highlighted the crucial role of teachers in ensuring child safety, discussing key provisions of the POCSO Act, identifying signs of abuse, and reporting protocols. Interactive discussions, real-life case studies, and practical strategies enhanced participants’ understanding and preparedness.
The workshop proved to be a transformative experience, fostering a culture of awareness and responsibility in schools. Teachers left with a stronger commitment to protecting children, reinforcing the need for continued training and community engagement in child welfare.
